Echo of Joy

Welcome!

Sunday, June 27, 2010

Welcome to my new blog!

I’m Amanda, a second-year student at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. This blog is a function of my summer class, Media and Technology in Religious Education.

Its title was inspired by a line in the French hymn, “Jesus, Je Voudrais Te Chanter,” by the Little Sisters of Jesus. In English, it’s “Lord Jesus, You Shall Be My Song”. Here’s a line from the second verse: “Jésus, je voudrais que ma voix soit l'écho de ta joie,” which means something to this effect: “Jesus, I want my voice to be an echo of your joy.” The voice concept seemed especially appropriate for a blog, so here we are!

I’m a little behind my classmates in getting started (my apologies to you!) but I’m looking forward to exploring the intersection of media and religious education. This reflection will no doubt serve me well in light of my upcoming internship, during which I’ll be involved with Christian education in at least a couple of the eight parishes I’ll serve.
